The Latest...We've once again been selected to participate in the Jegs Popular Hot Rodding Engine Masters Challenge. This contest pits engine builders against each other in a heads up format on the dyno. The competitor making the best average horsepower and torque per-cubic-inch wins the whole deal.
The July 2008 issue of Popular Hot Rodding contains a full feature story on our 2007 Engine Masters Challenge entry. The 407 inch small block Chevy make 622 horsepower in qualifying but lost power when porosity in the head casting allowed water into the exhaust port. After the contest, the cylinder head was repaired then installed in Kris Henderson's 1959 tube chassis 4 door Jaguar and proceeded to set two land speed records at the ECTA Maxton Mile, running 179.8mph in the standing mile. The March 2009 issue of Popular Hot Rodding features our 327 based small block Chevy the we used in the 2008 Engine Masters Challenge finishing in the top ten. The little engine made 529 horsepower and 481 foot pounds of torque. Pretty stout for a 10.5:1 flat tappet cammed small block only turning 6500rpm.
